I’ve always been curious about doing PR and my first week here has given me one of the best insights into what a career in the industry is like.
I originally come from a Journalism background – as that’s what I’m currently studying at University – and it’s really great to see what else is out there once I’ve finished my degree.
So, what happened on my first day?
The first day was great.
Tony ran me through all the projects the team was currently working on and showed me video footage from one of the many ongoing campaigns. I reviewed the footage which I later edited for a future project. Throughout the first day he was constantly helping me out and giving me advice on how I could make the most out of my time here.
Throughout the first week I had so many tasks to do. I did some interviews, some written features, as well as managing social media accounts. Overall, I had a tonne of fun with the tasks. Some of them were really challenging at first, but I’m glad I experienced a wide range of things in such a short space of time.
Why choose Viva?
The one thing I’ve loved about working here is how much your input is valued. Viva is full of team players and there’s never a time when you feel like you are on your own. The work experience feels like more than that, as you instantly feel part of the team once you’ve stepped through the door.
Viva is a small company and that’s what made it stand out for me. There’s always something for you to do here and you genuinely learn so much. There are so many interesting people who have had unique careers, so it’s good to get advice from them.
It’s definitely somewhere I’d recommend for work experience – the team is made up of some of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with!
