Dateline: last night. Location: That London. Viva was named PRCA Ethical Champions.
The PRCA’s Ethical Champions awards, celebrate the PR and communications agencies that are ethical and proud of it. That’s us. Clearly!
Ethical Champions are the latest step in the PRCA’s work to raise standards and celebrate those who uphold the highest standards, providing a guiding light for the PR and communications industry.
It looks at the following:
Staff welfare: Making sure you have a happy and healthy team so that they can offer a better service for their clients? and doing your utmost to ensure their wellbeing?
Ethical account management: Being mindful of the moral aspects of account work. And encouraging your team to express their own ethical concerns.
Recruitment and retention: Ensure interview candidates are sourced from the broadest pool. Ensure interns are given valuable, structured internships.
Ethical business practices: Having structures in place to ensure the way you do business is as ethical as possible.
For me it’s all about our ethos — treat people (that’s employees, clients, suppliers, media and so on) with honesty and respect. Graft, in the sense of working hard to deliver, to earn trust and remember that people are people. Train people. Give them the tools to do their job.
We don’t think we do anything special – thankfully the judges at the PRCA did.
