Project Description

Increasing brand awareness amongst key decision makers

In a specialist market Innova Design Solutions know it’s important to stand out. One of just 8 major players in the design and manufacture of classroom interiors, the company wanted to be seen as a forward-thinking market leader in science lab design and to increase brand awareness amongst key decision makers in the sector, where projects can range from £20,000 to £250,000 in value.

Viva PR launched the 6 month long Lab of the Future campaign to position Innova as an inspirational thought leader, creating science labs that inspired students and teachers alike. The campaign called on students to design the science lab of the future for the chance to win £20,000 of laboratory furniture for their school.

To generate leads for Innova within the education sector, boost engagement with target schools and industry influencers, develop links with a leading academic expert in the field of classroom design – and to get thousands of 11 to 16 year olds inspired about science and design.

Think science labs and you probably see Bunsen burners, test tubes and rows of scratched wooden desks. Science has changed, and so have the classrooms. To meet the challenge of positioning Innova as a creative, innovative force in laboratory design, we looked to the future, creating a campaign that was a natural fit with the company’s ethos of creating learning spaces that inspire students.

Designed to raise discussion about what science labs might look like in 10 years’ time, the Lab of the Future campaign asked 11-16 year olds to design a futuristic school science lab for the chance to win £20,000 of new lab furniture for their school.

Viva was charged with securing 50 leads for Innova and achieved double this number, with 100 schools expressing interest in science labs designed by Innova. More significantly thanks to the Lab of the Future campaign Innova is pitching for three major contracts, each worth in excess of six figures.

34 pieces of coverage in regional and trade titles were achieved in the first month, and over 80 pieces of print and online coverage across the 6 month campaign.

The campaign strengthened Innova’s relationship with design specialists from Salford University, with the opportunity to engage in major research projects and cement the company’s reputation for creating products putting the end user at the heart of the design process.

Lab of the Future has been a fantastic PR campaign. It’s increased awareness of Innova as a leading provider of laboratories amongst end users, generating leads far beyond the goals we set. The campaign has given us a real insight into the demands students make of the learning environment and how they might evolve in the future. The Viva team not only deliver great results but are also a pleasure to work with!”
