Telling Pendleside’s untold story
Just say the word ‘Pendleside’ in Burnley and Pendle and people know you’re referring to the Reedley-based hospice that covers both boroughs.
So, it might come as a surprise to learn that even people who have heard of the hospice and those who support it are unsure of the services it provides.
Tasked with helping to dispelling the myths around hospice care, Viva aimed to tell the stories of the hospice using the people who know it best; the staff, volunteers, patients and patients’ families.
Viva set up a media partnership with the hospice’s local newspapers, The Burnley Express and the Colne Times/ Nelson Leader, creating a double page spread of stories for the charity that would be published every fortnight.
In addition, we set about boosting fundraising efforts by sharing the stories of the people whose lives have benefitted from Pendleside’s care, whether as a patient or as a family member. These emotional, heartfelt stories drive home the reasons why the care the hospice provides is so vital, whilst highlight the wide range of services on offer.
Alongside the newspaper coverage Viva has secured multiple radio interviews on 2BR and Radio Lancashire and also gained coverage in Woman’s Own magazine.
